Short answer: a professional small business website in Baton Rouge runs anywhere from about $500 for a single-page site to several thousand dollars for a multi-page site with booking, e-commerce, or custom features. At Red Stick Digital our two standard packages are $499 and $1,499, and anything larger is quoted after a conversation.
The longer answer is more useful, because the price only makes sense once you know what you are buying.
What actually drives the price
Four things move the number more than anything else.
Number of pages. A one-page site that scrolls through your services, a bit about you, and a contact form is a different job from a five-page site with separate pages for each service. More pages means more design decisions, more writing, and more testing.
Who writes the content. If you hand over finished text and photos, the designer's job is layout and build. If the designer has to draft, edit, and organize your content, that is real hours, and it shows up in the price.
Functionality. A contact form is standard. Online booking, a client portal, payment processing, a menu that updates from a spreadsheet, or a members-only area are each a step up in complexity.
What happens after launch. Some quotes include a month or three of support and fixes. Others hand you the keys and charge hourly for anything afterward. Ask.
What $499 gets you
Our Starter package is built for a business that needs to exist online, look credible, and be easy to contact. It includes a single-page, mobile-responsive design with four to six sections, a contact form that emails you, basic on-page SEO so Google can read the page correctly, one round of revisions, one month of post-launch support, and guidance on hosting setup. You provide the text and images. Typical timeline is 7 to 14 days from our first call to launch, and it is often faster when content is ready on day one.
This is the right fit for a new business, a side business, a solo service provider, or anyone replacing a Facebook page or a Linktree with a real address on the web.
What $1,499 gets you
The Professional package is for a business that is ready to compete for customers on Google, not just be findable by name. It includes up to five custom pages (typically Home, About, Services, Portfolio or Gallery, and Contact), full SEO setup with structured data and a sitemap, contact forms and booking integration, optional blog setup, Google Analytics, two rounds of revisions, content guidance and editing, three months of post-launch support, and a training session so you can update your own content. You provide base content and we refine it. Timeline is 21 to 35 days.
This is the right fit for counselors and therapists, contractors and home services, restaurants and coffee shops, boutiques, and any business where a customer will compare you to two or three competitors before calling.
When it costs more
E-commerce, custom web applications, client dashboards, and anything with integrations to outside systems are quoted individually. There is no honest way to put a flat number on those without a conversation, because the same words ("online store") can mean twenty products or two thousand. Those projects start with a free discovery call and end with a written proposal that lists scope, timeline, milestones, and payment schedule before any work starts.
What about the cheap options?
You can build a site yourself on Wix, Squarespace, or GoDaddy for a monthly fee, and for some businesses that is the correct choice. The trade-offs are your time, the template look, and the fact that the monthly fee never ends. Many of the owners we talk to tried this first, spent a few weekends on it, and called because the result did not look the way they wanted or did not show up on Google. If you are on the fence, we will tell you plainly during a discovery call whether a DIY builder would serve you fine. Sometimes it would.
At the other end, larger agencies in the area often start in the thousands for a basic site and add a monthly retainer. That model makes sense for companies with a marketing budget and a marketing person. For a small business it is usually more than you need.
Ongoing costs to plan for
A website is not a one-time purchase, even after it is built. Budget for the domain name (yearly), hosting (monthly or yearly, and some modern hosting is free or nearly free for small sites), and some form of maintenance, whether that is a care plan or an hourly arrangement for updates. We will walk through the specific numbers for your site during the call so nothing surprises you later.
How to get an exact number
Book a free 30-minute discovery call. Come with a rough idea of what pages you need, whether you have photos and text, and what you want the site to do (get calls, take bookings, sell products). You will leave the call knowing which package fits and what it costs, and you can decide from there.
Thirty minutes, no pressure, and you leave knowing what your site would cost.
